The words.

It was that situation I’d always feared. Company event. Summer party. Barbecue and beer. Sunshine. Coworkers and their families. The boss comes up to me and says you remember my wife. I didn’t. I couldn’t think of her name or ever meeting her. He stood there, waiting for me to say something, I couldn’t see any other way out. I peed myself. They forgot all about introductions after that. I can start work on Monday.
